The Mind Behind Mommy Mentor
Hello fellow mamas (+ dads)! I’m Racheal, a behaviorist- made mama to three beautiful children. I fill many roles, but “mom” is my most busy, challenging, + rewarding one! I am no stranger to the meltdowns, aggression, screaming, power struggle madness. I’m finding the key to parenting is just making peace with the controlled chaos. That’s right, even though I read, write, and teach positive parenting, I am still imperfect. Some days I’m the model mommy mentor and other days I would even pretend not to know me. The fact is, you’re going to have amazing parenting moments, and then moments that keep you up at night with regret, guilt, and/or uncertainty. Parenting is one of the most difficult journeys you will ever be on. I am so excited to be on your team and support you on your journey! So follow along and let’s tackle this parenting thing together!
My Background
At 22, I had switched my major at least 3 different times. In the midst of pursuing occupational therapy, I found ABA. It didn’t take long for me to realize this was my calling. I loved the challenge, the complexity, + the functionality of all that applied behavior analysis entailed. Nine years and a master’s degree later, I’ve only become more passionate about all the facets of behavior analysis + sharing these skills and techniques to help foster a positive parenting experience for others. My perspective and expertise is greatly influenced by my background in ABA and my current role as a behavior consultant. I spend my days working with children + adults with intellectual disabilities both in home and in community settings. The majority of my services include teaching individuals how to manage anger, anxiety, and low self-esteem, as well as fostering effective communication and self-regulation techniques.
But…I don’t expect you to become an expert in applied behavior analysis and I’m not going to try to sell you on peaceful parenting. My goal is to address common struggles of the everyday parent and provide effective evidence-based strategies to put peace back into your parenting journey!
